On 25.03-29.03, the Polish Cluster of Construction Exporters took part in the Economic Mission in Kazakhstan. The objective of the Mission was to establish contacts with the construction circles of the Atyrau Region, and to learn about the investment market in Kazakhstan including whether Polish construction companies can participate in the implementation of key energy and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan.
In Atyrau, the capital of the region, the Mission members took the opportunity to meet representatives of Tengizchevroil, the operator of the largest project in Kazakhstan in the “oil and gas” sector. Similar meetings were held with the EmabMunaiGaz Board, and with the Atyrau Regional Chamber of Industry. One of the highlights of the Mission was a direct B2B exchange of experiences with representatives of the construction industry from that region. The day in Atyrau concluded with a meeting with the authorities of the Region and the City of Atyrau, headed by the Region’s Akim Mr. Nurlan Nogayev. The Mission’s representatives were talked through the project plans for the Region and the City, as well as the PPP projects, and the hosts encouraged them to open and set up companies in the special economic zone.
In Astana, the Mission members were presented the range of several dozen projects that can be implemented in the PPP formula. The organiser of the meeting Kaznex Invest outlined the possibilities of cooperation and encouraged the attendees to participate in these projects.
A meeting with the President of the Development Committee at the Ministry of Development and Investment of Kazakhstan brought one of the most important talks on the prospects for the development of the construction market in Kazakhstan and the participation of companies from outside Kazakhstan in key projects.
According to the Mission members, such industry specific trips are a chance to get to know each other better, to learn information crucial for decisions related to the strategy and development of companies which want to develop primarily through geographical diversification.
